Job summary

USVETS Inland Empire is seeking a Veteran Service Coordinator to lead the Veterans Service Department and oversee day-to-day operations for residents from entry through graduation. This exempt role works with the Program Manager to ensure consistent, high-quality services for veterans and their families across residential programs.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating community areas, and maintaining program structure while ensuring safety, compliance, and compassionate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field.
  • Minimum of four years of relevant employment experience; may substitute for degree requirements.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in related field; two years at U.S.VETS may substitute for supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with homeless and/or veteran population preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of clients, staff, and community members.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and maintain a therapeutic community across program phases.
  • Supervise and manage the Veterans Service Department.
  • Ensure 24-hour coverage and on-call readiness for site operations.
  • Coordinate daily shuttle runs and transportation needs as required.
  • Organize community service areas, therapeutic stations, and residential services.
  • Oversee administrative tasks: drug testing, logs, and records; ensure safe environment.

This individual provides direct leadership and management of client services operating within the site. In addition, the Veteran Service Coordinator works collaboratively with other Program Coordinators to ensure consistency in service delivery to veterans. The Veteran Service Coordinator is the lead role in organizing and coordinating the day-to-day program operations for veterans from point of entry into the residential programs and/or units until clients’ graduation from the programs. This individual also plays a key role in establishing a therapeutic community throughout all phases of the program by creating and organizing community service areas, therapeutic stations, and residential assistance services.FLSA Classification: ExemptResponsibilitiesResponsible for facilitating and maintaining a therapeutic communitySupervises and manages the Veterans Service DepartmentAvailable for on call-emergencies and responsible for ensuring 24-hour coverage of the siteOrganizes and coordinates community service areas and therapeutic stationsImplements residential program structure and supports provision of direct servicesProvides support, training and supervision to staff who provide direct servicesResponsible to implement and make necessary provisions to the fluidity of services offeredCoordinates daily shuttle van runs (or other required frequency depending on program/site)Works collaboratively with the Operations Manager to ensure that operational needs are being metResponsible for the storing and inventory of donations and goodsManages property issues as they arise in collaboration with the Property Manager and services staffFacilitates any necessary room checks as required to ensure a safe, clean and hazardless environmentOversees Urinalysis Drug Screening and Blood Alcohol Content testing to support safe, sober, and clean environment (as applicable depending on program model)Responsible for the departmental administrative responsibilities to include assigned toxicology testing reports (where applicable), van logs, master room/bed logs, and daily activity logsResponsible for ensuring the reliability of mail services if applicable for the site/program typeCoordinates weekly cleaning schedule of client rooms and other commonly-used areas around the sitePerforms other duties as assignedRequirementsBachelor’s degree in social services field or other related field required.
