Job summary

THOM Thomas Hospitals in South Charleston, WV, is seeking an experienced outpatient scheduling/registration specialist. You will check patients in and out, verify guarantor information, and ensure accurate clinic scheduling within guidelines.

You will coordinate follow-up appointments, handle patient inquiries, collect copays, and reconcile daily cash while maintaining a courteous, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.

Responsibilities

• Check in and check out patients according to Scheduling/Registration guidelines.
• Obtain and verify patient guarantor information annually; generate referrals if needed.
• Schedules and registers patients within clinic guidelines.
• Coordinate follow-up appointments and testing at check-out.
• Collect all necessary information to schedule and register the patient for an appointment.
• Identify and communicate scheduling modifications due to changes or cancellations.
• Notify appropriate personnel of scheduling changes in a timely fashion.
• Respond to patient and staff needs and complaints within the patient care environment.
• Consult with referring physician’s office to ensure orders exist and obtain them as needed; verify completeness.
• Collect time of service payments and copayments; reconcile cash drawer at end of day.
