Job summary

West Virginia University Health System is seeking a Scheduling/Registration specialist for outpatient clinics. You will handle check-in/out, collect guarantor information, and coordinate appointments and testing.

Responsibilities include verifying orders, handling payments, reconciling cash, and responding to patient needs with professionalism in a patient-care environment. A high school diploma is required, and background checks are conducted.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.

Responsibilities

• Check in and check out patients according to Scheduling/Registration guidelines.
• Obtain and verify patient guarantor information annually and generate referrals if needed.
• Schedule and register patients within clinic guidelines and medical appropriateness.
• Coordinate follow-up appointments and testing at checkout.
• Collect necessary information to schedule and register appointments.
• Notify staff of scheduling changes due to patient cancellations in a timely manner.
• Respond to patient and staff needs and complaints within the patient care environment.
• Review orders with referring physicians and ensure completeness; request outside orders if needed.
• Collect time-of-service payments and copayments at check-in/out.
• Reconcile cash drawer daily and report discrepancies to supervisor/manager.
• Obtain signatures on waivers for managed care at point of check-in.
• Complete Workques and daily tasks for the scheduling area.
• Respond to all patient communications promptly.
