Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a reliable ambulatory registration professional to efficiently check in and register patients across multiple clinics. You will collect guarantor details, verify orders, and coordinate follow-up appointments to keep patient flow smooth.

The role requires strong communication skills, accuracy in data gathering, and the ability to resolve scheduling conflicts in a busy outpatient setting within the WVU Health System.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to schedule and register patients per guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Checks in and checks out patients per Scheduling/Registration guidelines.
• Obtain and verify patient guarantor information annually.
• Schedule and register patients based on guidelines and medical appropriateness.
• Ensure follow-up appointments and testing are coordinated at checkout.
• Collect and record information to schedule and register appointments.
• Identify and communicate scheduling needs or changes.
• Notify relevant staff of schedule changes due to cancellations.
• Respond to patient and staff needs within patient care context.
• Coordinate with referring physicians’ offices for required orders.
• Verify written orders and notes; request outside orders when needed.
• Collect payment and copayments at check-in/check-out.
• Reconcile cash drawer and report discrepancies to supervisor.
• Obtain signatures on waivers for managed care at check-in.
• Complete work queues and daily tasks in scheduling area.
• Respond to patient communications in a timely manner.
