Job summary

WVU Medicine is seeking an experienced medical office receptionist/registration specialist to support outpatient services in Bridgeport, WV. The role includes patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and denial management with strong phone etiquette.

Responsibilities cover obtaining demographic and insurance data, determining eligibility, securing authorizations, and coordinating with therapists and the business office.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current CPR certification is required upon hire or within 90 days.
• Experience with patient registration/admission is preferred.
• Experience with insurance verification and authorization is preferred.
• Experience with electronic patient scheduling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain demographic and insurance information for pre-registration/intake processes.
• Register rehab series patients per admission standards.
• Determine eligibility and benefits; verify insurance coverage in a timely manner.
• Obtain insurance authorization promptly; communicate visit dates with therapists.
• Monitor authorized visits and notify therapists when additional authorization is required.
• Communicate authorization numbers and dates with the business office.
• Participate in denial management and seek retro-authorization when indicated.
• Obtain physician signatures for Medicare Plan of Care Certification/recertification.
• Schedule patients; maintain therapist schedules; coordinate multi-service appointments.
• Manage patient files and hard-copy forms as directed.
