Job summary

The Spencer Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) in Spencer, MA is hiring a full-time Substance Use Counselor to join our outpatient MAT program. You will provide individual and group counseling for patients with opioid use disorder, develop treatment plans, and document progress in a timely, compliant manner.

Required education includes a Master’s degree in psychology or social work or equivalent credentials (CAC/CAS/CADC, LICSW/LCSW, LMHC/LMFT), and experience in addiction treatment.

Qualifications

• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings with MAT exposure.
• Experience delivering individual and group counseling for substance use recovery.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices (CBT, MI) and relapse prevention.
• Documentation of treatment plans and progress in line with guidelines.
• Familiar with state and federal regulatory standards (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2).
• Collaborative work with a multidisciplinary medical team and peers.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, compassionate individual and group counseling.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient recovery.
• Co-facilitate group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure timely, clear documentation of patient care and incidents.
• Prepare individualized treatment plans for each patient.
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Evaluate needs and coordinate referrals to other services.
• May plan aftercare and provide crisis intervention when required.
• Perform case management to ensure quality, patient-centered care.
• Act as liaison between referrals and patients as needed.
