Job summary

Boston Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC), part of Acadia Healthcare, is seeking a Substance Use Counselor to support patients in opioid use disorder treatment. The role involves providing individual and group counseling, developing treatment plans, and coordinating care within a multidisciplinary team in a Boston, MA setting.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in psychology or social work and relevant licensure or credentials, with experience in MAT and evidence-based practices such as CBT and

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field required or equivalent credentials.
• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.
• Familiar with MAT and related medications (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).
• Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices (CBT, MI) and relapse prevention.
• Documentation experience compliant with state/federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality counseling in individual and group settings.
• Plan, oversee, and document patient recovery and treatment plans.
• Co-facilitate group or family sessions as needed.
• Document patient care, treatment, and incidents clearly and promptly.
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments and determine referral needs.
• Plan aftercare and provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Perform case management and liaise with referral sources.
