Job summary

The Davey Tree Surgery Company, operating as VanCuren Services, seeks a dedicated Utility Line Clearance Climber in the Cleveland area to perform safe pruning and removal for major electric utilities. Become part of an experienced team with strong safety standards and climbing programs.

You’ll operate with DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS climbing systems, maintain equipment, and collaborate with ground crew and forepersons to deliver reliable service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Driver’s license required; CDL preferred depending on job requirements.
• Electric utility tree trimming/climbing experience preferred.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Required: valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: CDL-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement.
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses and certificates if required by state law.
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®.
• Love of the outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Climb Trees using Davey climbing systems.
• Perform pruning and removal work for major electric utilities.
• Pruning treetops and removing damaged limbs as needed.
• Remove broken limbs from utilities, roofs, and other objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, lifts).
• Work as part of a crew with ground staff and foreperson.
• Growth potential depends on performance.
