Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is hiring a Line Clearance Climbing Trimmer to service the Medina and Lorain County, Ohio regions. CDL holder preferred; you’ll climb, prune, and remove trees for utility line clearance while working with a skilled crew in outdoor settings.

The role emphasizes safety, tool operation, and adherence to industry pruning guidelines, with opportunities for advancement based on performance and experience.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree orientation program upon hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Required: valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: CDL-Class A or B with Air Brake Endorsement.
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Perform pruning and removal work for electric utility providers.
• Trim treetops and repair damaged trees near utility lines or structures.
• Remove broken limbs from lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Apply tree-identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Work as part of a crew with ground staff and foreperson.
• Growth opportunities depend on performance.
