Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is seeking qualified applicants for a Highway Maintenance Specialist in the Denver area. The role requires a valid CDL Class A or B and comfort with heavy equipment operation, outdoor labor, and on-call duties.

Selected candidates will work in a team environment across multiple sites, with responsibilities ranging from snow plowing to road maintenance and traffic control.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no restrictions on air brakes.
• Must have at least two years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and assist in maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow and maintaining roads.
• Operating heavy equipment such as tandem dump trucks, loaders, and tractors.
• Mowing grass and weeds; removing debris from roadways and culverts.
• Repairing guardrails, signs, line markings, and traffic devices.
• Setting up signs/cones for traffic control and responding to emergencies.
