Job summary

CDOT in Thornton, Colorado is seeking a Highway Maintenance Specialist with a Colorado Class A or B CDL and a passion for safety, travel, and hands-on repair and improvements. The role involves on-call duties, weather-driven schedules, and work in a team environment across highway maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities include snow plowing, operating heavy equipment, mowing, debris removal, and traffic control, with a 4-day summer schedule and potential overtime during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow
• Operating heavy equipment such as tandem dump truck, loader, tractor mower
• Mowing grass and weeds
• Removing debris from roadways and culverts
• Installing and repairing guardrails and signs
• Setting out signs and cones for traffic control
• Maintaining equipment and performing minor repairs
• Following safety guidelines and wearing PPE
