Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation seeks Highway Maintenance Specialist to perform daily maintenance tasks on Colorado roads, including snow plowing and heavy equipment operation. You will work in teams across Colorado Springs, with on-call duties and varying weather conditions.

The role requires a valid CDL Class A or B and the ability to work outdoors in diverse environments. CDOT provides safety gear, training opportunities, and a 4‑day summer schedule with potential overtime during

Qualifications

• Must possess valid CDOT Class A or B CDL with no air brake restriction.
• Minimum two years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow.
• Operating heavy equipment such as tandem dump truck, loader, tractor mower.
• Mowing grass and weeds.
• Removing debris from roadways, including rock, mud, and deceased animals.
• Removing debris from culverts, tunnels, etc.
• Shoveling gravel, sand, concrete, and asphalt.
• Installing and repairing guardrail, highway markers and signs, warning signs, and lighting.
• Filling potholes and roadway cracks.
• Setting out signs and cones for traffic control.
• Removing and covering graffiti.
• Installing pavement markings/striping.
