Job summary

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) in Aurora seeks a Highway Maintenance Specialist to support snow plowing, equipment operation, and routine road maintenance. You will work on-call, in a team, under varying weather and road conditions, and respond to emergencies as needed.

Position requires a valid CDL Class A or B with no air brake restrictions, commitment to safety, and willingness to work outdoors.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no restriction on air brakes that allows operation within Colorado.
• Must pass a pre-employment screening which may include social security number trace, criminal records check, public court records check, educational records, and driving records checks.
• On-call work; shift work; may require to live within 30 minutes of Aurora for timely response.
• New employees: two weeks of maintenance training; veterans: one week of training each year.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow.
• Operating heavy equipment such as tandem dump trucks, loaders, tractors.
• Mowing grass and weeds; removing debris from roadways.
• Maintaining equipment and performing minor repairs; following safety guidance.
• Setting out signs, cones, and pavement markings; responding to emergencies.
