Job summary

CDOT’s Durango-based Highway Maintenance Specialist position focuses on snow plowing, operating heavy equipment, and maintaining road infrastructure with on-call duties and potential overtime. You will work in a team, follow safety protocols, and participate in routine preventative maintenance while supporting public safety on Colorado roadways.

Minimum qualifications require two years of physical labor or equipment experience and a valid CDL A or B with air-brakes.

Qualifications

• At least two years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no restriction on air brakes.
• Ability to work outdoors in variable weather and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow and operating heavy equipment as needed.
• Installing and repairing guardrails, highway markers, signs and lighting.
• Maintaining equipment and performing minor repairs.
• Setting out traffic control devices and ensuring safety measures.
