Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services, Inc. seeks Field Data Technicians to collect field data on outdoor utility facilities in the Virginia area. This role involves hiking between poles to capture data for outside plant engineering and fiber-optic projects.

Osmose will train the ideal candidate; the position requires routine overnight travel with weekly home weekends and occasional longer assignments. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic knowledge of telecom or electrical

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications or electrical distribution is a plus.
• Knowledge of pole design, NESC requirements and safety practices is a plus.
• Outdoor work in all weather with physical demands (lifting 15–20 lbs) is expected.
• Proficiency reading GPS maps and using basic computer tools is required.
• Ability to travel and stay away from home 1–2 weeks at a time is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Work outdoors collecting field data to support engineering and design for fiber optic facilities.
• Submit organized data including maps, field notes, and digital images.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as tablet, camera, and measuring tools.
• Represent Osmose professionally in the field and with customers.
• Communicate daily with the project management team.
• Work safely and independently.
