Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services seeks a Field Data Technician to collect detailed information about electric utility and telecom facilities in outdoor environments. The role involves hiking between spans of utility poles to capture data for outside plant engineering and fiber-optic construction projects, with training provided.

This position requires routine overnight travel (1–2 weeks away) and may involve extended assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
• Minimum 1 year outdoor work-related experience.
• Minimum 1 year working in a role requiring safety programs or protocols (details).
• Minimum 6 months in a quality-controlled environment (details).
• Minimum 6 months traveling to various work locations with occasional overnight stays.
• Ability to travel and work outdoors in variable conditions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Work outdoors collecting field data for fiber optic facilities design, including measurements of attachment heights, spans, and angles.
• Submit organized data for each project, including maps, field notes, and images.
• Operate and maintain tablet, camera, measuring tools, and PPE.
• Represent Osmose professionally in the field.
• Communicate daily with the project management team.
• Work safely and independently in field conditions.
