Job summary

Pearce is seeking an OSP Field Engineer to perform detailed field data collection for fiber networks. You will validate existing field designs for aerial, buried, and underground fiber layouts, and sometimes lead junior staff on projects.

In-person field work, precise note-taking, and GIS/map literacy are essential. The role requires 3+ years in telecom construction, a high school diploma, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom construction.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of outside plant activities (Fiber Cable Design, Pole Line Construction, Conduit System design).
• Ability to read as-built prints and identify conflicts with existing OSP facilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify, photograph, and document facilities such as cables, poles, pedestals, and handholes.
• Capture measurements of attachment heights, span distances, and centerlines.
• Identify utilities on poles and document bonding, grounding, and guying.
• Deliver detailed field notes and photographs to the engineering team.
• Identify obstructions to fiber placement and propose mitigation strategies.
• Read and understand GIS maps and layout drawings.
• Utilize tools like measuring wheels, height sticks, GPS devices, and laser rangefinders.
