Job summary

Pearce Services is seeking an OSP Field Engineer to perform on-site validation of fiber network designs, including aerial, buried, and underground routes across multiple states. You will collect field data, photos, and GIS information, supporting engineers with accurate layout and as-built documentation.

The role requires 3+ years in telecom construction, a valid driver's license, and comfort with travel up to 100%.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom construction
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Knowledge of outside plant activities (Fiber Cable Design, Pole Line Construction, Conduit System design) and Make-ready issues
• Ability to read as-built prints and identify conflicts with existing facilities
• Familiar with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ESRI functionality
• Able to identify different utilities and regulatory standards (RUS, NESC, GO95, NEC)
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• AutoCAD knowledge is a plus
• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass pre-employment checks
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Identify, photograph, and document facilities, including cables, poles, terminals, and handholes
• Capture measurements of attachment heights, spans, and distances to lines and property boundaries
• Identify power and communication facilities and ownership on utility poles
• Record bonding, grounding, guying, and anchor information
• Deliver detailed field notes and photographs to the engineering team
• Identify obstructions to fiber placement and propose mitigation
• Read and understand OSP construction techniques
• Read GIS maps, conduit records, and layout drawings
• Use measuring wheels, height sticks, GPS devices, handholes, and laser rangefinders
• Operate electronic devices (iPad, iPhone, laptop) for file sharing and email
