Job summary

Pearce is seeking an OSP Field Engineer to perform on-site validation of fiber network designs, including aerial, buried, and underground routes, and to document facilities with precise measurements. The role may involve leading junior staff and travel across multiple states.

The candidate should have 3+ years in fiber/telecom construction, a high school diploma or equivalent, and familiarity with GIS, AutoCAD, and outside plant practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in the fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom construction industry
• Knowledge of outside plant activities (Fiber Cable Design, Pole Line Construction, Conduit System design)
• Knowledge of obtaining right of ways and easements, and documenting field notes for desktop teams
• Ability to read as-built prints and identify conflicts with existing facilities
• Familiar with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ESRI, and shapefile functionality
• Able to identify different utilities, conflicts, and regulatory considerations (RUS, NESC, NEC)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD is a plus

Responsibilities

• Identify, photograph, and document facilities and infrastructure.
• Capture accurate measurements for attachment heights, spans, and distances.
• Identify power and communication facilities on utility poles.
• Record bonding, grounding, guying, and anchor information.
• Deliver detailed field notes and photographs to the engineering team.
• Identify obstructions and propose mitigation strategies for fiber placement.
• Read digital GIS maps and layout drawings.
• Use tools like measuring wheels, GPS devices, and rangefinders.
• Operate devices and maintain tools and safety equipment.
