Job summary

Pearce Services is seeking an OSP Field Engineer to perform on-site validation of fiber network designs, capturing detailed field data and photographs. The role requires travel across various projects, reading GIS maps, and coordinating with engineering teams to ensure accurate as-built records.

The candidate should have 3+ years in fiber/telecom construction, a high school diploma, and a valid driver’s license. Strong communication and GIS skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in the fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom construction industry
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Knowledge of outside plant activities and Make-ready issues
• Ability to read as-built prints and identify conflicts with existing facilities
• Familiar with GIS, ESRI, and shapefile functionality
• Able to identify different utilities, conflicts and regulatory considerations
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; AutoCAD a plus
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; pass pre-employment checks
• Good organizational, written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Identify, photograph, and document detailed information of required facilities (cables, poles, terminals, handholes)
• Capture measurements of heights, spans, structures, and centerlines
• Identify power and communication facilities on utility poles
• Record bonding, grounding, guying, and anchor information
• Deliver detailed field notes and photos to the engineering team
• Identify obstructions and propose mitigation strategies
• Understand OSP construction techniques
• Read and interpret GIS maps and layout drawings
• Use tools like measuring wheels, GPS devices, and rangefinders
• Operate electronics (iPad, laptop, email) on site
