Job summary

Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute is seeking an AR Billing and Collections Representative I to analyze past-due accounts and coordinate between third-party payers and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and delays.

Office-based role in Freehold, NJ, with hours Monday–Friday 8:30–5:00. Requires at least 4 years in medical AR and knowledge of healthcare billing; Excel proficiency is a plus. Benefits include medical, prescription, dental, vision, 401K, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years experience in medical accounts receivable.
• Knowledge of healthcare insurance billing required.
• Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
• English proficiency required.
• Microsoft Excel knowledge is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Analyze assigned AR accounts to ensure timely and appropriate closure.
• Cross-trained in back-office areas including posting and AR.
• Handle calls related to patient bills from patients and insurers.
• Check Navinet or payor sites for payment status and follow-up.
• Turn on Surgimate daily to assist pre-surgery requirements.
• Provide monthly updates on litigation and closures.
• Answer billing questions clearly and pull necessary charts.
• Address inquiries from patients, coworkers, and physicians.
• Respond to insurance and physician correspondence on balances and write-offs.
• Maintain patient confidentiality according to laws.
• Perform 30/60/90-day reviews of accounts and update status.
• Send 90-day status letters and post-9-month appeal letters.
• Document all accounts with status and closure strategy.
• Compile data and report denial trends; communicate with urgency.
• Reconcile AR accounts and process adjustments/refunds timely.
• Participate in billing and collection meetings; discuss resolutions.
• Complete new-hire, departmental, and annual compliance training.
• Complete timesheets and payroll time records by period end.
