Job summary

VCU Health System Authority is seeking a Patient Surgery Scheduling Coordinator to coordinate and schedule surgeries and follow‑ups for multiple physicians across sites (VCUHS ACC, Main OR, Stony Point and Southside Regional). The role handles preauthorization and precertification for all surgeries and answers inquiries from patients and insurance carriers.

Required: at least two years in a medical office/acute care setting with medical terminology, customer service and scheduling; three years

Qualifications

• Medical terminology and customer service required.
• Experience scheduling in a medical office/acute care setting.
• Familiarity with third‑party insurance processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains master schedules for physicians and blocks time for surgeries.
