Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced LPN for the NT4 Ortho-Urology Surgical Unit. The unit has 41 beds with a 1:4–6 nurse-to-patient ratio and a fast-paced throughput model. The role includes medication administration, IV therapy, and collaboration with therapists to ensure timely patient recovery.

Qualifications include an Illinois LPN license (IDFPR) and BLS within 30 days. The department emphasizes teamwork, education resources, and safe patient care in a Magnet-designated system.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a current license in Illinois (IDFPR).
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• College Diploma: Licensed Practical Nurse (Required).

Responsibilities

• Passes all medications, hangs IV piggybacks and fluids; excludes IV Push meds.
• Charts assessments on assigned patients after RN initial assessment.
• Charts on care plans; RN initiates and opens new care plans as needed.
• Communicates with physicians/APPs to receive orders and coordinate care for dressing changes.
• Complete trach care as needed and NG tube care and feedings.
• Care for ostomy; reinforce discharge instructions.
