Job summary

Carle Health’s NT4 Ortho-Urology Surgical Unit is seeking an experienced LPN for a fast-paced 41-bed unit with a 1:4-6 nurse-to-patient ratio. The unit collaborates with PT/OT, offers a sign-on bonus and a structured support team including educators and supervisors.

The role focuses on medication administration, wound care, and rapid turnover with emphasis on safe, high-quality patient care. Qualifications include Illinois LPN license, BLS within 30 days, and a college diploma.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with Illinois licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Education: College Diploma: Licensed Practical Nurse (Required).

Responsibilities

• Passes all medications, hangs IV piggybacks and fluids (excluding IV Push meds).
• Charts assessments on assigned patients after RN assessment and initial care plan.
• Coordinate care with physicians/APPs for dressings and orders; assist with NG tube care and feedings.
• Insert and care for NG tube; care for ostomies; reinforce discharge instructions.
