Job summary

Advocate Health is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the Aurora St Lukes Medical Center – Surgery Room, full-time, 40 hours/week. Flexible 5x8 hour day shifts with start times 0530–0700 and on-call duties for weekends/holidays; on-call requires arrival within 30 minutes.

Responsibilities include aseptic preparation, passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and assisting surgeons as needed. Requires BLS within 6 months and completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques used in preparing materials, supplies and equipment for various procedures.
• Knowledge of operating room equipment and workflow.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provides a clean, safe, and efficient area conducive to optimal patient care.
• Assists with aseptic technique and instrument handling during procedures.
• Performs a range of procedures and maintains knowledge of various surgeries.
• Maintains environmental disinfection, safety, and efficiency of the operating room.
• May act as Second Assistant as needed.
• Notifies staff of equipment/supply problems.
• Transports patients and equipment as required.
• Maintains specialty carts and ensures availability and sterility.
