Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the operating room at St. Luke’s Medical Center. This full-time position offers a 40-hour workweek with 5-8 hour shifts, early start times, and on-call requirements across Weekdays, Weekends and Holidays.

The role requires completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program, 2 years’ experience, BLS certification within 6 months, and strong aseptic technique and patient care skills. Competitive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
• Typical minimum of 2 years in a Surgical Technologist role.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers by AHA required within 6 months.
• Ability to provide age-appropriate patient care.
• Knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient operating room to support patient care.
• Utilize aseptic techniques in preparation of materials and equipment.
• Assist with a range of surgical procedures and support specialty areas as needed.
• Ensure environmental disinfection, safety, and efficiency in OR operations.
• Transport patients and equipment as required.
• Maintain specialty carts and equipment readiness.
• Precept Surgical Technologists I and participate in department teams.
• Position and move patients and equipment safely during procedures.
