Job summary

Stony Brook University is seeking a Coordinator of Orientation & Transition Programs to support New Seawolf Welcome and related transitions. The role develops belonging among new students, coordinates programming for international, transfer, and non-traditional students, and ensures smooth arrival and welcome services following university guidelines.

The position involves recruiting and training student staff and collaborating with the Assistant Director of OTP and other departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) and 1 year of full-time experience in a college or university setting in a student services area.
• Experience coordinating, developing, and implementing large-scale programs and/or events.
• Customer service experience.
• Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Social Work, Counseling or another related field (preferred).
• 2+ years of experience in a college or university setting in a student services area (preferred).
• Experience supervising and training students.
• Experience with leadership development programs.
• Budget management experience.
• Experience with PeopleSoft, Blackboard, online survey software, and website development/maintenance software.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for New Seawolf Welcome and transition programs, building belonging for new students.
• Plan and implement orientation for International, Transfer, and Non-traditional students.
• Coordinate arrival and welcome services for international students following established guidelines.
• Recruit, hire, train and supervise student assistants with the Assistant Director of OTP.
• Assist with evaluating program effectiveness and website updates.
• Serve on Orientation and Opening Committee and collaborate with various campus offices.
