Job summary

Sharp HealthCare is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure proper maintenance and distribution of disposable supplies and durable medical equipment for patient care. The role emphasizes adherence to infection prevention standards and accurate documentation within a fast-paced SPD environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a sterile processing program within the last 12 months; CSPDT preferred.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Experience as a sterile processing technician within the last 12 months; or graduate of an accredited Sterile Processing Technician program (such as HSPA, CBSPD, CAAHEP, etc.) within the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Communicate malfunctions or questionable loads to the Lead Technician or Supervisor; provide information to facilitate receipt of MSDS; maintain shift reports and logs; notify SPD lead/Nursing units of biologies/wet loads and equipment malfunctions.
• Complete all initial competencies and demonstrate ongoing competency; apply age/cultural appropriate plans using patient care interventions.
• Document sterilizer load contents and labels; track loads with charts; document biologic and vacuum testing results; label implantables for quarantine.
• Disassemble and reassemble instrument trays; inspect and care for instruments; load and operate washer/sterilizer, sonic cleaners, steam, plasma; quarantine implantables until monitors are reviewed.
• Establish annual goals and maintain in-service records; show continuous self-development.
• Restock carts, prepare case carts for surgery per pick lists; report stock issues; request non-stock items as needed.
• Use resources cost-effectively; anticipate surgical needs; complete delegated duties on time or report to supervisor.
