Job summary

The Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN seeks an RN for a full-time .9 FTE day shift with weekend premium. You will provide patient-centered care across the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and staff to support high-quality outcomes and family education in a surgical services setting.

This role includes OR services, trauma coverage, and call/holiday rotations, with a comprehensive benefits package including sign-on bonus and 401(k) matching.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of clinical nursing experience or student rotations in an acute care setting required.
• Strong knowledge of the nursing process and clinical nursing practices.
• Able to perform thorough patient assessments and communicate findings.
• Proficient in administering medications and monitoring for side effects.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Knowledge of safety standards, infection control and quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and delivers patient-centered care in line with policies and nursing process.
• Conducts thorough patient assessments and documents findings, reporting changes to the care team.
• Provides age-appropriate care leveraging knowledge of growth and development.
• Administers prescribed meds, monitors for side effects, documents administration.
• Assists physicians during procedures within competency.
• Collaborates to develop, implement and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Responds to medical emergencies and participates in CPR and code team activities.
• Educates patients and families on conditions, plans and post-discharge care.
• Monitors and operates medical equipment as needed for safety.
• Promotes patient safety per National Patient Safety Goals and maintains a clean environment.
• Participates in audits, chart reviews and compliance checks.
• Documents care and education thoroughly in the medical record.
• Engages in professional development to maintain competency.
• OR Services RN: Provides comprehensive perioperative care, scrubs in for surgeries, monitors vitals and medications.
