Job summary

George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC, seeks an OR RN to deliver direct patient care during surgical procedures, ensuring a safe, sterile environment and efficient operations.

You will circulate or scrub across multiple specialties, perform pre-op assessments, maintain aseptic technique, collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia, document events, and support patients and families before and after procedures.

Qualifications

• DC nursing license required or eligible for DC licensure.
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA).
• Minimum 1 year OR/perioperative experience.

Responsibilities

• Circulate or scrub for surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
• Perform pre-op assessments and intra-op monitoring.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical techs.
• Document patient status and events in real time.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families pre- and post-procedure.
• Participate in staff training and quality improvement.
