Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital, a 395-bed academic medical center in Washington, DC, seeks an OR RN to deliver direct patient care during surgical procedures within a high-acuity perioperative environment.

You will circulate or scrub, participate in pre-op assessments, maintain sterile technique, and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and staff to ensure patient safety and efficient care throughout the operative period.

Qualifications

• DC license required for practice in DC.
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required.
• Minimum 1 year of OR or perioperative experience.

Responsibilities

• Circulate or scrub for surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
• Perform pre-op assessments and intra-op monitoring.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control policies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs.
• Document patient status and surgical events accurately and in real-time.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families pre- and post-procedure.
• Participate in staff training and continuous improvement initiatives.

1 year OR experience

Education

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) (preferred)

CNOR certification (preferred)
