Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking an OR RN to deliver direct patient care during surgical procedures within a high-acuity environment. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to uphold patient safety and care standards in the operating room.

This role requires current DC RN licensure (or eligibility), +BLS and ACLS certification, and a minimum of one year in OR or perioperative settings.

Qualifications

• Current DC RN license or eligible for DC licensure.
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA-certified).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the Operating Room or Perioperative setting.

Responsibilities

• Circulate or scrub for surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
• Perform pre-op assessments and intra-op monitoring.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and enforce infection control policies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs.
• Document patient status and surgical events accurately and in real-time.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families pre- and post-procedure.
• Participate in staff training and continuous improvement initiatives.
