Job summary

GW Hospital is seeking an OR Registered Nurse to deliver direct patient care during surgical procedures within a high-acuity operating room setting in Washington, DC. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to uphold patient safety and efficient care in a 395-bed academic medical center.

The role requires DC RN licensure, BLS/ACLS, and at least 1 year of OR/perioperative experience, with preferred CNOR and BSN credentials.

Qualifications

• Current DC RN license or eligible for DC licensure.
• BLS and ACLS certification through AHA.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the Operating Room or Perioperative setting.

Responsibilities

• Circulate or scrub for surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
• Perform pre-op assessments and intra-op monitoring.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control policies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs.
• Document patient status and surgical events accurately and in real-time.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families pre- and post-procedure.
• Participate in staff training and continuous improvement initiatives.
