Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking an operating room registered nurse to deliver direct patient care in the OR. You will circulate or scrub for procedures, support the surgical team, and ensure sterile conditions throughout the case.

The role requires BLS and ACLS, a DC RN license (or eligibility), and at least one year in the OR or perioperative setting. You will document events in real time and contribute to patient safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Current DC RN license (or eligible for DC licensure).
• BLS and ACLS (must be AHA-certified).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the Operating Room or Perioperative setting.

Responsibilities

• Circulate or scrub for surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
• Perform pre-op assessments and intra-op monitoring.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and enforce infection control policies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs.
• Document patient status and surgical events accurately and in real-time.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families pre- and post-procedure.
• Participate in staff training and continuous improvement initiatives.
