Job summary

VSP Vision in Niceville, FL, is seeking a full-time assistant to support optometry services. You will help the Optometrist with examinations, handle patient intake, and guide patients through the clinical experience.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, taking measurements, instructing on contact lens care, and handling inventory. The role requires strong communication and adaptability in a fast-paced clinic environment.

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience in a related field.
• Working knowledge of MS Office package.
• Effective verbal communication skills to prioritize multiple tasks and to be available for incoming calls and inquiries.
• Effective written communication skills to clearly document patient visits.
• Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills.
• Ability to ask appropriate and relevant questions to identify patient needs.
• Ability to listen, process transactions, and interact with patients simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Optometrist with eye examinations and patient eye care.
• Prepare patients by gathering history and documenting in patient records.
• Take measurements and perform tests to assess visual capabilities before examinations.
• Instruct patients on contact lens insertion and removal.
• Order contact lenses and manage inventory.
• Administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications.
• Scribe for the doctor and translate as needed.
• Support patient flow and communicate effectively with staff and doctors.
• Perform therapy exercises or procedures under supervision.
• Assist in other office areas as needed.
