Job summary

Keplr Vision is seeking an Optometric Technician I to support the optometrist in delivering high-quality patient care. You will assist with pre-screening, medical history, and coordinating exams to ensure a smooth patient experience.

You will educate patients on benefits, help with contact lens training, and handle insurance verifications and billing under supervision, contributing to a flawless clinic workflow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to do basic math.
• Team player with good interpersonal and listening skills.
• Experience as an Optometric Technician preferred.
• Experience with electronic medical records preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pre-screen patients before they see the optometrist, including the administration of diagnostic tests.
• Gather patient’s medical history.
• Communicate with doctors, staff, and patients.
• Answer phone calls, greet patients and schedule appointments.
• Educate patients on their insurance coverage and vision benefits.
• Train patients on proper contact lens use and care.
• Obtain insurance authorizations and verification of benefits.
• Accurately post charges for exam fees, co-pays, and products sold.
• Assist other team members to reach goals.
• Document optometry exams and procedures as performed by the doctor.
• List diagnoses and follow-up instructions and prescriptions as directed by the doctor.
• Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow in the office.
