Job summary

AEG Vision in the United States is seeking an Optometric Technician to support doctors and deliver exceptional patient care. You will perform pre-exam evaluations, assist with diagnostic testing, and help manage appointment schedules to ensure a smooth patient flow.

You’ll maintain accurate health records, interact with patients, and may perform scribe duties or refractions. The role requires attention to detail, HIPAA compliance, and teamwork in a fast-paced eye care practice.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation and diagnostic testing.
• Assist with specialty diagnostic testing and post-exam tasks.
• Manage doctor’s appointment schedule to ensure efficient patient care.
• Record and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatments.
• May perform diagnostic testing using equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document findings in EHR and assist with medical documentation.
• Ensure maximum schedule utilization through reminders and rescheduling.
• Conduct contact lens insertion/removal classes and manage inventory.
• End-of-day wrap-up and cleanliness of the practice.
• Support the Optometrist as a scribe or perform refractions when needed.
