Job summary

AEG Vision in Toledo, OH seeks an Optometric Technician to join the patient care team. The role supports Optometrists with pre-testing, specialty testing, and scheduling to ensure high‑quality patient experiences from intake to check‑out.

The technician conducts tests, records findings in the EHR, handles referrals, and assists with clerical duties while upholding HIPAA standards and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Experience maintaining patients’ records / files per HIPAA regulations.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist (dilations, topicals, diagnostic meds, Optomap, auto refractor, VA).
• Schedule referrals and complete paperwork for specialty visits as needed.
• Maintain patient records compliant with HIPAA and HIPAA policies in EHR systems.
• Assist with clerical duties related to medical documentation and CPT/billing tasks.
• Ensure maximum schedule utilization through pre- and same-day confirmations and recalls.
