Job summary

AEG Vision in Orlando is seeking an Optometric Technician to support clinicians and educate patients. You will perform pre-exam evaluations, assist with diagnostic testing, manage the schedule, and help with documentation and HIPAA compliance.

The role involves contact lens handling, end-of-day wrap-up, and collaboration with the care team to ensure efficient, high‑quality patient experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topical meds, and tests.
• Assist with specialty diagnostic testing and manage the doctor’s appointment schedule.
• Schedule referrals and complete paperwork as needed.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatments.
• Possibly perform diagnostic testing with equipment (OCT, Visual Field, etc.).
• End-of-day duties include schedule wrap-up and office organization.
• May act as scribe or perform refractions; other duties as requested.
