Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support eye care teams with pre-testing, diagnostic testing, and patient education. You will help manage the doctor’s schedule and ensure a high-quality patient experience from check-in to post-exam.

Responsibilities include performing preliminary evaluations, coordinating referrals, maintaining patient records per HIPAA, and assisting with various testing devices such as OCT and retinal imaging.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• PC skills to include MS Office, Windows, and word processing.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with coworkers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity.
• Performs verbal interview with patient prior to visit with Optometrist to determine medical issues and reasons for visit.
• May schedule referrals and complete paperwork for follow-up visits.
• Record and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatment.
• Perform diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document medical findings in EHR and assist with clerical duties related to medical documentation.
