Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support Optometrists and deliver high‑quality patient care. You will perform pre‑testing, assist with diagnostic testing, manage the doctor’s schedule, and help educate patients throughout their visit.

You will document findings in EHR, maintain HIPAA compliance, and help with clerical tasks, referrals, and patient inquiries in a fast‑paced practice environment.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• Strong attention to details and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• PC skills including MS Office, Windows, and word processing.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with coworkers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations prior to exam by the Optometrist (dilation, topicals, diagnostic meds, Optomap, auto refractor, VA).
• Conduct verbal interview with patient to determine medical issues for the Optometrist.
• Schedule referrals to Ophthalmologists and other follow-up visits; complete paperwork.
• Record and maintain patient records per HIPAA and company policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries about medications and treatment, referring to the Optometrist as needed.
• Perform diagnostic testing with specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document findings in EHR and assist with related clerical duties; check CPT codes and billing.
• Maximize schedule utilization via pre- and daily-appointment confirmations and recalls.
