Job summary

AEG in Illinois seeks an Optometric Technician to support doctors, perform pre-testing, and ensure efficient patient flow.

You’ll handle EHR documentation, schedule appointments, conduct preliminary testing, and assist with diagnostic procedures such as OCT and retinal imaging, while upholding HIPAA. This full-time role offers benefits including 401(k), medical/dental/vision, PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• PC skills including MS Office and Windows; ability to collaborate in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations before exam (dilation, topicals, diagnostic meds, Optomap, auto refractor, VA).
• Schedule referrals and manage appointments to maintain efficient flow.
• Document findings in EHR and support medical documentation.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatment.
• Assist with diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
