Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to support doctors and enhance patient care. You will perform pre-exam evaluations, assist with diagnostic tests, and help manage the patient journey from check-in to check-out.

You will maintain accurate records in EHR, participate in scheduling, and help with clerical tasks while upholding HIPAA standards. This full-time position offers benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• Strong attention to the details and ability to work under pressure in fast paced environment.
• PC skills to include MS Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively and professionally collaborate with co-workers and patients.
• Experience with HIPAA and medical records.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients prior to exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity.
• Conduct verbal interview with patient to determine medical issues and relay details to the Optometrist.
• Schedule referrals and manage paperwork for specialty visits.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatments.
• Perform diagnostic testing using specialty equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document findings in EHR and assist with administrative duties and CPT coding where needed.
• Assure schedule utilization by confirming appointments and recalling patients.
• Train and conduct contact lens insertion/removal classes and manage inventory.
