Job summary

AEG Vision is seeking an Optometric Technician in Latham, NY. You will work with Optometrists to support patient care and education, ensuring efficient, high‑quality experiences from start to finish.

The role includes pre-testing, diagnostic testing, post-exam tasks, appointment management, and clerical duties related to medical documentation, with HIPAA compliance emphasized throughout the practice.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams.
• Familiarity with medical terms related to eye care.
• Experience maintaining patients’ records per HIPAA.
• Industry certification such as CPO, CPOA, or CPOT.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary pre-testing procedures before the exam.
• Assist with specialty diagnostic testing and post-exam tasks.
• Schedule and manage the doctor’s appointments for efficiency.
• Maintain electronic health records and verify CPT codes.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatment.
• Assist with contact lens insertion/removal and inventory.
• Keep frames, displays, and work areas clean and organized.
• Potentially act as scribe or assist with refractions.
