Job summary

EssilorLuxottica's Daynes EyeCare in Sierra Vista seeks an Optometric Technician to support eye exams, manage patient flow, and ensure a high-quality patient experience.

You will perform tests, assist with eye exams, review prescriptions, handle patient records under HIPAA, and support contact lens exams. This role requires at least 2 years in optometry or healthcare, knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, and strong communication; weekend/evening flexibility may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Knowledge of optical and medical terminology.
• Understanding and utilization of optical equipment and diagnostic testing (pre-exam testing, pretesting, visual acuity, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care and eye exams, including managing patient records and supporting patient flow throughout the exam.
• Performs various tests to aid the optometrist with vision examinations including visual acuity measurements, depth and color perception tests, and retinal imaging.
• Performs tests to aid the optometrist in accurate diagnosis and treatment for the patient in appropriate time frame.
• Reviews prescriptions and patient information, identifies special needs and refers to appropriate staff when necessary.
• Identifies dissatisfied patients and acts quickly for resolution.
• Maintains patient records and HIPAA-compliant handling.
• Supports contact lens exams and orders, including care, inventory and orders.
• Operates POS system and handles transactions.
• Ensures a safe environment and adheres to policies.
• Performs pre-examination testing with accuracy and explains measurements to patients.
• Maintains equipment and provides clinical support to the Optometrist.
