Job summary

EssilorLuxottica's Metro Optics Westchester Sq is seeking an Optometric Technician to assist during eye exams and ensure a smooth patient experience. You will help manage records, support the doctor, and perform pre-exam testing with careful attention to detail.

Maintain equipment, verify prescriptions, and uphold HIPAA while delivering accurate measurements. Weekend/evening shifts may be required; strong communication and organization are essential.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 2+ years' experience in optometry, ophthalmology or healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of optical and medical terminology.
• Understanding and utilization of optical equipment and diagnostic testing (pre-exam testing, pretesting, visual acuity, etc.)
• Coaching skills
• Strong communicator and listening skills
• Problem solving ability

• Strong interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care and eye exams, including managing patient records and supporting patient flow throughout the exam.
• Performs tests to aid the optometrist with vision examinations including visual acuity measurements, depth and color perception tests, and retinal imaging.
• Maintains accurate prescriptions and patient information; adheres to HIPAA and practice standards.
• Operates the appointment book and scheduling procedures; handles POS transactions when needed.
• Supports contact lens exams and orders, including care, inventory and orders.
• Ensures equipment maintenance and disinfection; provides clinical support to the Optometrist.
