Job summary

Heart of Florida Health Center in Ocala, FL seeks an Optometric Technician/Patient Services Representative to provide clinical and front-office support. You will perform patient pre-testing, assist with diagnostic procedures, and help with eyewear services while registering patients and verifying insurance.

You will balance cash and payments, educate patients on fees and financing options, and maintain accurate records in the EHR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or certification preferred.
• Certification as a Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) preferred.
• Experience in an optometry or ophthalmology setting is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts patient pre-testing including visual acuity, autorefraction, and retinal imaging.
• Documents patient history, medications, and symptoms in the EHR.
• Registers patients and verifies insurance eligibility and benefits prior to service.
• Collects copays and eyewear payments; balances daily receipts.
• Assists with eyewear orders, adjustments, and inventory management.
• Schedules appointments and manages recall lists.
