Job summary

Mid Florida Eye in Mount Dora, FL seeks an energetic Ophthalmic Technician I to prepare patients for ophthalmology and optometry visits, perform basic screening, and assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures. Travel to other office locations may be required to support clinical needs.

The role emphasizes patient care, accuracy in testing, and teamwork in a private practice setting that values service excellence and a positive work environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, staff, managers, and doctors.
• Basic computer literacy required.
• Highly energetic with a positive attitude.
• Must be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet business demands.
• Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient to see Ophthalmologist/Optometrist and conduct preliminary exam; take medical history.
• Perform pre-exam testing including visual acuity, tonometry, and pupillary evaluation; assist with specialty tests.
• Assist with minor surgical procedures or laser treatments; help with contact lens fittings.
• Open/close exam lanes and maintain equipment; ensure instruments are cleaned and stored correctly.
• Educate patients on medication use and pre/post-operative instructions.
• Maintain inventory of medications and supplies and assist with record-keeping in patient charts.
