Job summary

Visionworks of America, Inc. is seeking a part-time Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for examinations, perform pre-exam tests, and guide patients through the process. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists and assist with remote and onsite appointments.

The role requires customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to travel between stores as needed. Training is provided for this position.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Training provided.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred (as noted).

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and submit pertinent patient information into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye examinations and document results in EMR.
• Support remote eye exams including pre-testing, testing and video conferencing with remote doctor.
• Transition the patient to a retail associate after the exam and convey doctor recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance per SOP and manage basic benefits questions.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books across locations.
• Maintain patient flow to support doctor effectiveness.
• Instruct patients on contact lens care and proper handling of lenses.
