VisionWorks is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to enhance patient experiences by preparing patients for examinations, handling pre-exam tests, and guiding them through the process with our Optometrists. The role includes both in-store and remote support, with training provided.

The position involves assisting with eye examinations, coordinating pre-testing, and ensuring accurate EMR entries, while also helping patients understand insurance and plan benefits.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Training provided.

Responsabilités

• Register patients and submit medical history and ocular data into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and document results in EMR.
• Support remote eye exams including pre-testing, testing, and video conferencing.
• Transition patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations.
• Explain plan benefits and preauthorize insurance per SOPs.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books; contact no-shows and cancellations.
• Maintain patient flow for doctor effectiveness.
• Answer clinical questions and triage ocular emergencies.
• Instruct patients on contact lens care and handling.
• Place diagnostic contact lens orders and notify patients when ready.
• Maintain clean environment and equipment; ensure nightly coverage.
• Participate in training and complete required clinical certifications.
• Ability to travel between locations.
